Dear Friends, December 2011
As the season of Christmas draws near, we are reminded even more of the incredible significance of the birth of our Savior Lord Jesus Christ more than 2,000 years ago. While we enjoy the blessings of Christmas such as time shared with family, the exchanging of gifts and the delicious meals and desserts, those who know Christ as Savior know that we have the greatest gift of all, a relationship with Him and salvation through His grace!
Our commitment here at Proyecto Aldea Global is to show the love of Jesus to the broken, the lost and needy in Honduras using a holistic development approach. This means providing help to the most vulnerable populations and seeking solutions to their basic human needs but seeking to solve their greatest need first. This motivated us during our emergency response efforts this past October, as many families lost their homes, belongings and loved ones in the hurricane like tropical storm and floods that hit southern Honduras. We responded with immediate food, blankets and health assistance and supplies but since then we have been focusing on reestablishing critical municipal water supply systems to provide clean water to communities that lost their entire water supply more than two months ago during this crisis. We are grateful that you have helped us respond to these serious needs and reestablish many community water systems over these past months. Clean drinking water has been one of the most important gifts we can provide to these many families and communities during this Christmas season!
With 65% of the Honduran population living under the poverty line, our work seems endless and difficult especially as we have struggled economically as an organization. However, God has shown His faithfulness to us and to the Honduran people by providing us the resources to continue our development work. We thank you for being faithful and assisting us to reduce poverty and empower many poor families and communities here in Honduras!
There are many opportunities to make someone’s Christmas special this year and we hope that you will find those with special needs because we are truly blessed when we give of ourselves to those around us. Thank you for your continued prayers and support of our programs that guide our efforts in reducing poverty in Honduras. …. We know that support from friends like you truly makes the difference in the life of a child, a family or even a community! Blessings on you and your family,
Chester Thomas Executive Director.
