Flor del Campo is a large urban squatters settlement where over 100,000 people live in urban poverty. The Flor del Campo Pastoral Program was started by PAG in 1992 to help counsel and educate high-risk youth growing up in this difficult area.

The youth program’s main components are:

(1) Christian Discipleship

(2) Family Relationships

(3) Scholarship Program

(4) Community involvement

(5) Career Education and training

(6) Health and Hygiene education

2011 Achievements:

1.) 60 Elementary school children, 82 high school students and 8 University students were supported with scholarships this year.

2.) As part of the social projection aspect of this program, the high school scholarship students helped 6 low-income families lay concrete floors in their homes which will help prevent illnesses produced by the dirt floors they previously had and improve the families’ health.

3.) 1,100 children were evangelized during our “Kids Club” that was held during the month of August.

4.)
We began vocational workshops for 184 high school and college scholarship students in electricity, basic computer formatting, hair and nails and making piñatas. These workshops provide skills, resources and income opportunities for youth in the program. The workshop teachers are community volunteers!

5.) The program started a once a month youth church service having special guests come to play live music and give messages directed towards youth.
