URBAN CREDITS IN FLOR DEL CAMPO

PAG’s micro credit program was started in 1983 to provide help to single mothers and poor families with financial resources and technical assistance to start their own businesses and to generate an income for their families.

This urban flexible credit program provides technical assistance on business planning, administration, costs and marketing, etc. for poor single mothers who need to feed their families by creating small businesses.

PAG’s micro credit program provides a special service in the city due to its low interest rates, fast approvals and personalized service. During 2008 PAG’s urban micro credit program granted $ 589,500 in loans distributed among 406 beneficiaries (60 % are women). These grants were invested in small businesses, services and small stores.

In Honduras rural credits are too risky for commercial banks since the beneficiaries have no guarantees, no bank history and their payments can only be made at harvest time. However since 2003 PAG decided to make a difference by providing rural micro credit loans to help poor farmers and encourage greater food production. During 2007- 2008 PAG has granted $ 1,249,721 in loans for different purposes: food production, commerce and services, small animal projects and small business development. These grants were distributed among 1,747 beneficiaries, (60 % were women).
