Programs and Projects
Cham (Community Health & Micro-Credit)

PAG has worked in conjuncture with many communities in the northern zone of Comayagua. Through the formation of human resource volunteers, improving infrastructure, and community medicine funds, PAG has formed a link between the most vulnerable population and the public health services. Thanks to this work, the conditions of the communities are starting to improve. PAG health program is comprised of an extensive network of 100 pharmacies and 7 stock warehouses all staffed by trained community people that provide alternative service to 14 municipalities with a potential population of more than 70,000 people.
PAG’s community health program was selected as the most successful in Latin America in 2005.

Geography
223 communities in 13 municipalities in northern Comayagua, Honduras.

The goal of this two country joint initiative is to improve the quality of life of the citizens of Tucurú (Guatemala) and northern Comayagua (Honduras) through expanded opportunities for family health and livelihoods.

Rony's Story
My name is Rony Hernan Sorto and I run the community pharmacy in my community called Plan de Alejandro, which is in La Libertad, Comayagua. I enjoy volunteering for the community pharmacy/medicine chest because I feel satisfied knowing that I can help others and that I can serve others in my community.

Through PAG's health program I received a week long training in health issues that we commonly face and now I have the reference material that I was given during the training at home to use when I come to an unfamiliar situation. I also receive a visit from PAG's health extensions once a month to answer any questions I may have and give me more tips.

I think the community chest program is very beneficial because our community has learned much about health and we also have basic medicines available in the community
