PROLENCAH - Quality Education in Rural Schools

Geography
13 Municipalities: Santa Cruz de Yojoa, Siguatepeque, Taulabé, Meámbar, Las Lajas, Ojos de Agua, La Libertad, El Rosario, San Jerónimo, Comayagua, Ajuterique, Lejamaní, San José de Comayagua.

Target Groups
School Children between ages of 6 and 14 years of age. Some of them working in limestone factories, coffee and sugar cane plantations. Also, school teachers, parents associations and CSOs.

Number of Beneficiaries
23 communities: 10,200 beneficiaries in total. Direct beneficiaries = 2,200 Children + Indirect beneficiaries= 8,0000. Gender Rate: 50 W / 50 M.

Objective 1: To increase the access within rural areas of northern Comayagua to a quality & sustainable education, community administrated and compatible with their culture and respectful of their rights.

Second Objective 2: To improve the public system of community based primary education in Honduras (PROHECO)

O1/R1: All 31 Lenca Schools have improved their education quality, as students, teachers and parents interact together in a participatory approach.

O1/R2: All 31 Lenca schools and its students enjoy a holistic education, compatible with their culture and respectful of their rights and values.

O1/R3: All 31 Lenca Schools have improved their overall sustainability using a participatory approach involving community, teachers and students

O2/R1: Extension and multiplication of the best practices and lessons learned of PROLENCAH within PROHECO Comayagua.
